The LA Local
A newsroom for every neighborhood

Los Angeles is a vibrant collision of ideas. It needed a bold, new vision for local journalism that sees Los Angeles the same way. A collection of innovative newsrooms that amplify the voice and visibility of each community, with shared resources to cover the city as a whole. A network that can fill reporting gaps, rebuild trust and sustain journalism that serves all of Los Angeles.
We developed the strategy, name and visual identity for The LA Local, which captured their dual purpose of strengthening your community and our Los Angeles. The LA Local meets you where you are, with coverage that reflects your concerns and trusted information that impacts your life. The distinctive colors evoke the vibrancy and cultural richness of Los Angeles neighborhoods, while the bold, modern typography signals innovation and forward-looking journalism. An updated mark for The Boyle Heights Beat, the newsroom that served as the model for The LA Local, highlights the importance of connection—to issues that matter locally, to greater LA’s shared future.
